DYMAXION MAP STUDY
In 1946, inventor Buckminster Fuller designed the most accurate, portable, and proportionally correct map: the Dymaxion Map. Its easy transition from 2D to 3D allowed users to handle a small globe, without the cultural bias and scale distortion of a traditional 2D map. There is no up, down, or continent which is placed in the center. I applied the logic of this cultural plurality to my own skewed, Westernized perception of nationalism. Each map consists of a single nation, and the degree to which the map is completed represents my knowledge of it. Animation of map is from Wikimedia Commons.
